Golf Tip of The Month: Bunker Shots
When playing a bunker shot it is important to have a sand wedge. A sand wedge provides you with a lot of loft which is important to getting the shot out. When taking your stance dig your feet in to the sand, this will give you a nice foundation in which to swing. Take a wide stance with the weight favoring your left side ( 70/30 ). Place the ball slightly ahead of center in your stance. The club should be placed about 3 inches behind the ball as this is where you should first strike the shot. When making the swing stay as still as you can with the lower body while letting the club swing away in a U shaped fashion. Make sure you stay aggressive through the shot staying flexed in the lower body throughout. I hope this helps. Happy Golfing!!!!!

February Turf Talk
This month we will continue to remove old sand and put new sand in our fairway bunkers. Our goal is to get the front nine finished and #10 and #18 on the back nine. We are also touching up any green side bunkers that need sand as we go. Trimming of trees still continues and we will also be trying to remove all Brazilian Pepper trees on the golf course. This is a non-native, invasive tree that we're trying to control before they get out of hand.
As you know we didn't overseed greens or fairways. We have had a mild winter but I am happy with our programs to keep our greens and fairways green even though the rough went dormant. Hopefully the rest of the winter remains mild.
On Tuesday, February 28th the last tee time will be at noon so we can do our Spring fertilizer and pre-emergent application.
